Day 2 in Kuching

Today I woke up at 8.45am just as my alarm ring and Merlye came to call me. Haha...We left at 10am plus to pick Poh Yee and Ling up for breakfast. We went for Sarawak laksa which is different from normal laksa. It isn't spicy but it was delicious.

After laksa, we went to buy some souveniors at a shop that sells a lot of things made out of clay. I bought a vase which is RM16 there which is beautuful. I bought 3 small cups in different colour which cost RM3.50 each. Since I'm born in the year of pig, I bought cute pigs to decorate my house ^_^ Merlye on the other hand bought some souveniors for my parents. She is always so sweet and thoughtful. I would like to thank her on my parents behalf.

After our first round of shopping, we head off to the roundabout which has the longest name. There are a lot of roundabouts here and all have a name unlike in Kuala Lumpur. Just before we head there, Merlye took us for ice cream where the ice cream is different from other ice cream. What is the different? It is madeout of pure milk.

We have our ice cream in the car and head off to the roundabout. When we reach there, we went round and round the roundabout looking for the best place to park to take picture with the sign board. We park the car at the side of the road at the Sarawak High Court and ran across 3 lane road to get to the roundabout. Then we make our way through the wet grass to the sign board in the roundabout and took some pictures. Can you imagine how long the name is?

Oh ya...the name of the roundabout is Bulatan Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Abdullah Bin Datuk Bandar Abang Haji Mohammad Kassim. It is written on the sign in 2 lines for it can't fit into one line. After that, we went to the cat museum and right outside the museum we can see the view of Kuching town. It is a beautiful scene. We then head in and look at cats. On our way out, we took a beautiful picture together.

Since it is lunch time, we then head off to have lunch. What did we have? We had something that is not sold in Kuala Lumpur which is belacan noodles. Besides that, we had a plate of rojak, milky red bean, ice kacang and two fruity drink. The belacan noodle taste different but it is not my preference for I'm not a belacan fan.

Once our tummy is full, we went for round 2 shopping. This time we went to a souvenior shop and bought some souveniors. I bought somethings for my cousin while the others got something for themselves. When we went out to the car, a MYVI was blocking our car but we manage to go out and drive out of the parking lot. This is call "Girl Power!"

After being out for so long, we went back to Merlye's house and rest. We look at her soft copy photos and chit chat. It was a fun time. We went down and chit chat with Merlye's in-laws when they came over. I have to say, Merlye's mother-in-law is very motherly. Se prepare a lot of things for us to eat. First, she show us a banana which is triple the normal size of banana which she sterm it and serve us.

Before that, we went out to the balcony and sat as not to disturb baby Brenda who is sleeping. We ate some Sarawak mandarin oranges, a fruit that taste like avocado and the banana which Merlye's mother-in-law sterm. She then serve us Sundrop can orange juice which is not found in West Malaysia. When we are bout full, Merlye's nanny brought us Bak Kut Teh which Merlye's mother-in-law cooked.

I can say merlye's mother-in-law's cooking is delicious. While we were eating, she brought out some organic rice and asked us to eat some with the Bah Kut Teh. Whoa...that is a fantastic high tea and a very delicious one too ^_^ After that we rest a while and chit chat while waiting for the food to digest.

It was bout 8pm where we went out for our round 3 shopping. We went to Green Gallery which is like Living Cabin back in West Malaysia but a higher class Living Cabin. They sell a lot of beautiful things but very pricy. I bought something for my sister there. We were about done when Greoffrey called Merlye to see if we are done shopping. He then asked us to meet him.

We then head off to Happy Valley to meet Greoffrey. Since I was afraid I might go hungry, I ordered pork chop and ice milo. The pork chop was delicious but it was a bit hard. We then chit chat there a while longer before we left. We then send Poh Yee and Ling back to the hotel before we head home. It was another beautiful day. Thank goodness it didn't rain even when dark clouds were looming the sky.
